Arm Lift

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgery that improves the contour of the arms by removing loose skin. In this surgery, an incision is made along the back or the arm or inside the armpit. Excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is tightened. Fat is not removed during an arm lift surgery, but some patients may choose to combine an arm lift with liposuction to achieve their desired results.

Arm lift surgery may be ideal for individuals who experience the following:

  • large amounts of hanging skin in their upper arms, perhaps as a result of massive weight loss
  • loss of skin elasticity in their arms
  • arms that are disproportionate with the rest of their body

Arm lift surgeries are highly customizable, and patients have the option of selecting procedures that result in either a short armpit scar or a longer scar inside the upper arm. The best candidates for arm lift surgery are patients who feel that a scar is a worthwhile tradeoff for a dramatic improvement in arm contour. Arm lifts can usually be performed in under two hours at our East Side Manhattan offices by top plastic surgeons in NYC Doctors Keegan and Vickery. Patients typically return home on the day of the surgery.
