Q: Why is it important that a doctor has experience with microsurgery?

A: Surgeons who do not perform microsurgery may not offer a full array of options to their patients. Patients should always be offered an opportunity to choose among a variety of implant and autologous reconstructions, but surgeons who lack microsurgical expertise may fail to fully educate patients about their options.
